Farah & Justen are just about the coolest, most driven couple I can think of. They met through their work on the Obama campaign, and their mutual passion for social justice in politics was clear from our first conversation. Their shared values are apparent in everything they do.
When it came time to plan the nuptials, Farah wanted a traditional Islamic wedding in her hometown, the Quad Cities. They opted for a gaye holud in Farah’s parents’ backyard, a riverside ceremony, and a reception at Davenport’s beautiful Hotel Blackhawk.
The picture above is one of my absolute favorites from Justen & Farah’s celebrations – but I can’t take credit! It’s by my husband and (that day) assistant photographer, Herman. After all this crazy dancing at the gaye holud the night before, I couldn’t believe that everyone would have energy for the next day! But the wedding day was so much fun:
