A little over a year ago I became a mother. Leading up to that day, a question circled in my mind: how do I devote myself to this new person, but also stay myself?

Last week, a trip to Banff and the Canadian Rockies gave me a fraction of the answer. A workshop in black and white landscape photography led by Paul Zizka and Dave Brosha brought me to new places and pushed my photographic boundaries. The trip put me back in touch with my love of exploring the world and my creative curiosities – two things that sat on the back burner this past year. I connected with old and new friends. I’ve come home inspired to embark on some new creative experiments, even if they start out small, and it feels like a next beginning.

Thanks to Dave, Paul, and my fellow workshop members for sharing your talents and sense of adventure.
